Hello everybody!
On September 14, 2017, we will have our Annual General Meeting followed by an inspirational showcase of Touch Quilts for Dementia by Dr. Sharon Moore, our President, Carol Henckel.
Touch quilts are textured lap quilts designed for those who need sensory stimulation, especially those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Straightforward to make, these charity quilts have the potential to impact on quality of life for individuals living with dementia. Intrigued by the description of these quilts, three researchers came together to explore the experience of using touch quilts in a long-term care environment. In this showcase, we will describe this project and highlight some of the reactions of families and staff in using these quilts.
