We have often shared how important gardening can be on the creative aging process, however, one missing focus is the undeniable impact parks and gardens can have for end of life care.

Dr. Sonya Jakubec, from Mount Royal University’s Nursing Faculty, and also a presenter at our Creative Aging Symposium has shared a short 10 minute video with us.

It is based on some of her research with Parks Canada exploring the importance of parks and nature at end of life. Her work is based on the premise that interaction with the natural world is important at all stages of life, contributes to healthy aging and can play a positive role in death and grief.
